Woman Implanted With Wrong Embryo Gives Birth

Carolyn Savage from Toledo, Ohio, who was implanted with the embryo of another couple, has given birth to a baby boy.

When Carolyn Savage went to have her fertility treatment done at a local fertility clinic she was mistakenly given an embryo that belonged to another couple. A few weeks after the procedure the clinic called to tell Carolyn that she was pregnant, but it was not her embryo. Carolyn gave birth to a healthy baby boy and offered a “congratulations” to the baby’s biological parents Paul and Shannon Morell. A statement from the Savage family read, “We wish Paul, Shannon, their twin girls and their new baby boy the best, as they move forward with their lives together.”

The Savages are asking for “privacy” as they go through this “difficult time.” The Savages have three children already and looked to in vitro fertilization after suffering several miscarriages.

The name of the fertility clinic that made this mistake has not been released at this time, but the Savage’s lawyers says that the couple wants the clinic to take responsibility of the situation.
