A Morbidly Obese Woman, Who Weighs 550 Pounds, Gives Birth To a Healthy Baby

Moscow doctors are proud of themselves after they deliver a healthy baby from a 550 pound (250kg) woman.

At over 500 pounds, most women would not be able to get pregnant let alone carry a baby and give birth to a healthy baby, but one woman in Moscow has just done this. Moscow doctors delivered a healthy baby boy to a woman who topped the scales at 550 pounds.

The woman has only been identified as a 34-year old woman named Nonna M. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy who weighed in at 4.4 pounds. The labor was artificially induced by the doctors and it only lasted 5 hours.

Irina Osadcheva, the deputy head of Moscow’s Maternity Clinic Number 8, where the birth took place, told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper that “it’s really a striking case.” She explained, “the thing is that as a rule, women over 150kg have such severe hormonal irregularities they simply can’t get pregnant.”
