Top Chef Host Padma Lakshmi Expecting First Child

It has been confirmed that the host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi is pregnant with her first child.
The rep for Padma Lakshmi sent a statement to Us Weekly that said, “Model, author, and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America.”
It went on to say, “As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi’s privacy at this time.”
Padma has talked openly about endometriosis and not even knowing that she had the condition. She told People, “I’m somebody who never knew I had this condition and always thought that everything was okay. I found out in a very hard, difficult way – and I had to be operated on. Now, I’m fine but it was a very trying ordeal.”
After seeing pictures of Padma on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards recently, there were a few rumors circulating that she was indeed pregnant.
There has been no identification on who the father of the baby is at this time. Padma recently split from her husband novelist Salman Rushdie in 2007 after 3 years of marriage.
