Birth Control Pill Linked With Muscle Mass Problems
Researchers have found that the birth control pill may cause muscle mass problems in young women.
The study at Texas A&M University and the University of Pittsburgh, looked at 73 healthy women who were taking oral contraceptives and those who were not.
The two groups of women were asked to carry out identical resistance training for ten weeks.
They identified that the group of women who were not taking birth control increased their muscle mass by 60 percent more than the other group.
Blood samples taken from the women also showed evidence that there were lower concentrations of muscle building hormones within the bodies of women who were taking the pill.
