A voluntary recall of 44,000 pink security blankets was announced Tuesday by the United States’ CPSC and company Rashti & Rashti.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in conjunction with importer Rashti and Rashti, announced a voluntary recall of approximately 44,000 Giraffe Security Blankets imported by company Rashti & Rashti.

The pink blankets feature a giraffe’s head and were exclusively sold in Target department stores between January 2009 and August 2009.

“We identified the potential of the ball on the top of the horn on the giraffe’s head detaching, posing a choking hazard to young children,” states Rashti & Rashti on their Web site’s recall page.

“Although there have been no reported injuries on any product, we have opted to take this precautionary measure,” they added.

The CPSC recall page advises that “[c]onsumers should immediately take the recalled blankets away from children and contact Rashti & Rashti for a full refund.”

Consumers can contact Rashti & Rashti through their toll-free number: 888-594-3730
