New York Woman Tries to Kill Baby by Getting Mistress to Take Abortion Drug
When 38-year old Keisha Jones got irate with her husband for getting another woman pregnant, she fooled the pregnant woman into taking an abortion drug called Cyotec.
Jones allegedly stole a prescription pad from a doctor and wrote a fake prescription for the abortion drug. Cyotec causes miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy. Instead of killing the unborn child carried by the mistress, the drug induced an early delivery.
Anthony Jones, Jr., a tiny little guy weighing somewhere between 2 and 3 pounds, is now fighting for his life because he was born two months premature.
Authorities believe that Keisha Jones disguised her voice, blocked her number and contacted Monique Hunter, the baby’s mother, by telephone. Jones left messages for Hunter, claiming to be a nurse from her doctor’s office. In the message, Jones told Hunter to pick up and take a prescription that was waiting for her at her pharmacy, or her child would be born with Down Syndrome. Believing the call was in fact her doctor’s office, Hunter obtained the prescription and took the medication.
One week later Hunter gave birth to the baby approximately two months before her due date. Doctors are hopeful that the infant will survive, estimating survival chances at 95%.
Last reports indicate that Jones has been arrested, but not yet formerly charged. She is scheduled to appear before a grand jury on Wednesday where she will likely face charges of attempted abortion, possession of a forged instrument, and forgery and possession of stolen property.
