Stillborn Babies In Maine To Be Issued With Birth Certificates
Last Friday a new law was introduced into Augusta, Maine to issue birth certificates for stillborn babies.
Gov. John Baldacci signed the bill which has been called Noah’s Law.
The law was named after Lindsay and Mark Schuenke’s son who was stillborn.
Until now, parents were only issued with a death certificate in the state of Maine.
Now parents will be able to obtain a birth certificate as a legal document of a stillborn baby’s existence.
Mr and Mrs Schuenke expressed their desire that they had been issued with a birth certificate for their son Noah.
