DJ Edith Bowman Takes Baby To Glastonbury
Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman was spotted at Glastonbury this weekend with her cute one-year-old boy Rudy.
The 34 year-old DJ was presenting the BBC TV’s coverage of the festival. While off air, she was photographed carrying her son around the site with him on her back.
Edith last week said that she was already planning on taking Rudy camping at next year’s festival.
“Rudy is coming to Glastonbury with me. But my mum’s coming too, so he’s not just going to sleep in the corner while I’m on TV. She’ll be there to look after him.
“I’m not taking him for the entire weekend, but he’ll definitely be there on the Saturday. I’ve got a brilliant rucksack which I can put him in to. It has got a sun canopy so he can stay in the shade.
“We’re not camping, though - he’s a bit too young for that - but, next year, definitely. I don’t think Glastonbury is the best place to try it out for the first time.”
Edith told reporters that she had been bonding with her son during the festival season as his father, singer Tom Smith, is often away at weekends.
She said:”Rudy is awesome, and is more and more fun each day. I love hanging out with him.
“His dad has been away a lot at weekends as he’s doing festivals, so me and Rudy go on lunch dates. We’re like ladies who lunch.”
Edith is hoping to have more kids soon, although she has a heart defect and there are some health risks. In her interview with the New! Magazine, she said: “I’d like more kids. Rudy is amazing, so, at the moment, I’m just enjoying him, but I’d like to have 18 children.
“I grew up pining for a little brother or sister. My mum keeps telling me a story about when I was at primary school and doing a project about Egyptians. We got to make a wish - and mine was to have a little brother or sister. Then, within a year, my mum had my little brother. So I don’t want Rudy to be an only child.”
“Tom is absolutely amazing. It makes me smile from the inside out when I see the two of them together. It’s brilliant,”
“It’s not easy juggling work and motherhood but I’ve got a great nanny, and great friends and family.
“I’ve had to readjust my priorities and balance things a bit better. I wake in the mornings and there’s someone else to think about rather than myself for a change, which is really nice.”
