Two-Week-Old Baby Dies After Being Attacked By Family Dog
A two-week-old girl from Mesa, Arizona has died after being attacked by the family dog in her home.
The incident happened after the mother placed the baby in a low-lying bassinet so she could use the bathroom. When she returned, her daughter had severe injuries on her head after being bitten by the pet Chow-Golden Retriever mix. The frantic mother made a call to 911, but the baby girl was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
On Thursday morning the dog was euthanized. Two other dogs were removed from the home by a family friend, but it is not known if they belong to them.
The parents, who are both police officers, are said to be devastated by the loss of their daughter. They are receiving financial support from the Mesa Police Association’s Officer Assistance Fund and there will be a fundraiser this weekend to help towards the costs of hotels and the funeral.

You do realize that the mother was negligent in leaving the baby alone with the dog. She should have taken the baby in the bathroom with her or removed the dog from the area. Dogs are great and they are dogs. They have a prey drive and a little wriggling (maybe crying) baby is prey. The dog was doing what comes naturally, yet he is killed for the mom’s negligence.

THEY KILL THE DOG BECAUSE IT HAS TASTED BLOOD AND FLESH!!! ONCE THEY HAVE DONE THAT, ITS VERY LIKELY THEY WILL DO IT AGAIN. THEY HAVE TO DO IT TO PREVENT FUTURE ATTACKS. IT CANT BE SENT TO THE WILD BECAUSE IT WON’T SURVIVE. YES THE MOTHER WAS NEGLIGENT, BUT DON’T YOU THINK SHE REALIZES THAT. PEOPLE TRUST THEIR PETS TOO MUCH AND NEVER THINK THEY WOULD HURT A FLY, BUT A SMALL CHILD IS TOO MUCH OF A TEMPTATION. ESPECIALLY A CHOW!!
