Actor Tim Allen Welcomes a Daughter

Tim Allen’s wife, Jane gives birth to a little girl this past weekend.

Actor Tim Allen and his wife Jane are now the proud parents of a little baby girl named Elizabeth. Jane gave birth on March 28 in Los Angeles. Elizabeth weighed in at 5lbs 13oz.

A statement released his Allen’s rep reads, “The couple is thrilled at the arrival of their new baby and are doing great.”

The pregnancy was announced in January and later in February, Tim revealed that they were having a girl.

Elizabeth joins big sister Katherine, 19, who is Tim’s daughter from a previous marriage.

Kimora Lee Simmons Makes Unofficial Pregnancy Announcement

Kimora Lee Simmons seems to have made an unofficial pregnancy confirmation with her t-shirt.

Kimora Lee Simmons is said to be pregnant and due with her baby in late May/early June, but the fashion mogul has not made any actual confirmations of being pregnant. Apparently that has not stopped her from expressing it with her t-shirt.

Kimora was seen strolling around Beverly Hills wearing a t-shirt that said BABY PHAT with an arrow pointing to her stomach. Kimora is the CEO of Baby Phat fashions.

This will be the first child that she is going to have with her boyfriend, Djimon Hounsou.

She has two little girls from her previous marriage to Russell Simmons: Ming Lee, 9, and Aoki Lee, 6 ½.

         

Madonna’s Former Nanny Writes On Facebook About Leaving Her Job

Angela Jacobsen, Madonna’s former nanny to her son David, writes on her Facebook page about quitting the job.

Angela Jacobsen used to be the primary nanny in charge of Madonna’s son David, 3. But Jacobsen recently gave Madonna her notice only to be told by the singer to leave immediately and not finish out the job.

It has been hinted at by Jacobsen that the long hours and being unappreciated led to her giving her notice.

The 29-year-old nanny wrote on her Facebook page, “Not putting up [with] this s*** any more. Never have, never will. Standing up for my rights regardless of consequence. Sick of always being the one who compromises.”

Madonna is set to adopt another child from Malawi and is heading to Africa to attend the court hearing on the adoption. No word on whether Jacobsen has been replaced yet.

         

Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease Kills Five Babies In China

Five babies in China have died from Hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) this week.

The babies, all from Heze City in east China’s Shandong Province, included four boys and a one-year-old girl.

Over this year, 1,734 cases of HFMD have been reported in Heze City, with 440 cases being reported on Friday alone.

Experts have arrived in the city to help deal with the outbreak of the disease.

HFMD usually begins with a slight fever, which later develops into blisters and ulcers around the mouth, and rashes on the hands and feet.

Often, intestinal viruses, such as EV71 are linked with the condition.

Currently, there is no vaccine. Children who contract the disease may later develop meningitis, encephalitis, or paralysis.

         

Pregnant Coleen Mcloughlin

Coleen Mcloughlin, now Mrs. Rooney, 22, is three months pregnant with footballer husband Wayne. They are said to be “Absolutely thrilled”.

Due at the end of September, Coleen and Wayne have so far only informed family, friends and Wayne’s bosses at Manchester United.

A friend of the couple told The Mirror: “Their families are the biggest thing in their lives and Wayne has always said he wants at least three or four children.

“Coleen has always maintained she wants a family when the time is right.

“They don’t know whether it’s a boy or girl yet… they don’t mind either way.”

In her February diary for a magazine she gave advice to a women who was three months pregnant.

She wrote: “Make the most of being small now as you’re only going to get bigger.”

And twice this month she praised TV presenters Holly Willoughby and Tess Daly’s maternity wear, saying: “It must be so hard to find stylish dresses every week.”

Baby Rooney will have a specially-converted nursery in the couple’s £3.5million mansion in Cheshire.

The first picture of their new baby would likely sell for £1million. Possibly even surpassing that paid for photos of Posh and Becks’ baby Brooklyn.

         

Ice cream to aid conception?

Ice Cream could help to conceive a baby. The latest research from the Harvard School of Public Health suggests you should eat plenty of ice cream and forget the low-fat dairy.

Scientists observed women who ate at least one serving of a high fat dairy food every day, they found that Ben and Jerry’s and Haagen Daaz lowered the risk of what’s called anovulatory infertility by 27%. On the other hand, women who ate two or more servings of low-fat dairy daily increased their risk of not ovulating, and being infertile, by 85%

Jorge Chavarro, MD, a research fellow at Harvard recommends that women trying to get pregnant; “Should consider changing low-fat dairy foods for high-fat dairy foods; for instance, by swapping skimmed milk for whole milk and eating ice cream, not low fat yogurt.”

He also identified the need for more research into ice cream and fertility.

         

Laurence Fox Struggled At First With Being a Father

Laurence Fox opens up to the Daily Mail about struggling with being a father when his son Winston was born.

Laurence Fox is opening up about how he did not deal the best with fatherhood at first. Fox and wife Billie Piper welcomed their first child, son, Winston James back in October. Fox says that when Winston was first born, he had a lot of mixed feelings, ““I definitely went through really odd feelings, really animal ones such as ‘Do I even want this baby? I was like that for about two weeks after he was born.”

Fox goes on to say, then something just happened.

“Suddenly I looked at him and thought, ‘You’re called Winston’ — I’d called him ‘it’ for ages, as in ‘it’s doing that’ – and then it just clicked. And that’s when you become — it’s awful isn’t it, when clichés are true – but that’s when you go, ‘I’m not going to ever let anything bad happen to you – ever.’ And now he’s just a joy.”

The only drawback now to fatherhood for Fox is the lack of sleep. He says that the loss of sleep does weird things to his mind. “It has this peculiar effect on your brain,” he explains. “You lose compassion, sensitivity, kindness – they’re the first things to go in extreme situations. You stop opening doors for your missus when she’s carrying the shopping bags. Instead, you plough through yourself, in an ‘I-must get- through-this-myself’ way. It’s quite scary.”

         

Woman Loses 8 Stone While Pregnant

Instead of gaining weight while pregnant, this mom actually lost a great deal of weight.

The recommended weight gain for a healthy pregnancy is 25-35 pounds. Zoe Bisgrove decided that she wasn’t going to gain any weight during her pregnancy. Instead she went on to lose 8 stone and several dress sizes while being pregnant with her second child.

Bisgrove had struggled with her weight her entire life but by the time she in her 20’s she was wearing a size 32 and weighed in at 20st5lb. She said: “I was just enormous. I’d given birth to my sons Josh and Freddie and no one could even tell I was pregnant as my fat just hid my bump.”

After falling down the stairs at her home around her 27th birthday, she decided she was going to do something about her weight. She decided to join her local Slimming World group. She was able to lose 4 stone in the first  4 months, but that is when she discovered that she was pregnant. By that time she was already 2 months pregnant.

Bisgrove said, “‘As my bump grew, I kept on shrinking. By the time I was ready to give birth I had lost another four stone and I was the slimmest I’d ever been.’” She gave birth to a healthy baby who she named Seth, who weighed in at 7lbs 10 oz. Bisgrove stayed on her healthy regime and has kept the weight off.

Although it has been proven that women who are at  healthier weight has less complications while pregnant, it is not recommended that one goes on a diet while pregnant.

         

Madonna Heads Back To Africa With Her Son David

Madonna is taking her son David, back to his home country of Malawi to reunite with his biological family.

Madonna is headed back to Malawi, with her son David in tow. David was adopted from Malawi back in 2006. She is set to adopt another Malawian child, named Mercy from the same orphanage.

While in Malawi, her son David will be reuniting with his biological father Yohane and his new half brother, Dingiswayo. Yohane says that Dingiswayo looks just like David when he was younger before he was adopted. David’s mother died and since then Yohane has remarried and welcomed this new little boy into their family.

Yohane says that, “Madonna told me in 2006 that she would be bringing back David after three or four years. I knew that she would keep her word.” He also goes on to say that he hopes David and his brother “will click” when they meet.

Madonna will be examined by the court next week to see if she will be bringing another child home with her.

         

Baby’s Sleep Position Doesn’t Make A Baby’s Head Flat

American researchers say that a baby’s sleep position may not make much difference in making their head’s flat.

Risk factors for deformational plagiocephaly (DP), a condition that causes severe asymmetrical head shape, were analysed.

Since the 1990s, parents have been advised to let babies sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of cot death, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

The study was carried out due to the increasing numbers of DP over the last 10-15 years, which now affects up to one in six babies.

Research was carried out at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston. They concluded that the position a child sleeps in does not increase the amount of head flattening.

Prof. Albert Oh said “We found a trend toward less flattening in infants who slept prone [face downward], or in positions that were alternated,”

He went on to comment in the Hasbro Children’s news release. “Interestingly, however, while supine [on the back] positioning has been a well-established risk factor for the development of plagiocephaly, we were not able to demonstrate a logical correlation to indicate more severe flattening from the supine position.”

Interestingly, they did find that a lower gestational age did increase the chances of severe head flattening. They also found that boys had a higher chance of developing the condition, as did multiple-birth babies.

Oh said “In our study, infants with DP who were the product of a multiple-birth pregnancy were disproportionately higher than in the general population and greater than in previous studies,”
