Levi Johnston Filing for Joint Custody of Tripp

Several sources report that Levi Johnston plans to file for joint custody of his 10-month old son with Bristol Palin.

Johnson’s battles with the Palin family have been ongoing since the birth of his son Tripp.  Things got worse last month when he told CBS’s The Early Show that Sarah Palin referred to her infant son Trig as “retarded.”  Trig has Down syndrome.

Former Gov. Sarah Palin came back at Johnston, telling reporters:  “We, like many, are appalled at the inflammatory statements being made or implied.  Trig is our ‘blessed little angel’ who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life.”

Sarah Palin had this to say about Johnston’s planned strip down for Playgirl next week, “Those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention.”

“It’s not working, I’m done,” Johnson told reporters.  “It’s going to have to go to court.  They just finally pushed me over the edge.”

On October 30 Palin’s attorney Thomas Van Flein said, “Other than noting that Tripp’s father is always welcome to visit his son, we are unable to respond to these allegations as it is inappropriate to discuss child custody matters publicly.”

Baby dies from septicemia - Parents accused of Manslaughter

Thomas Sam worked as a homeopath in Sydney, Australia and taught the subject at a Sydney college. He and his wife Manju Sam had a baby girl, Gloria Thomas, whom was suffering from eczema.

Despite the advice of doctors they persisted with homeopathic treatment for their daughter until she died from septicemia, (Infection) a court has heard.

Both parents are accused of the manslaughter of their nine-month-old infant daughter by gross criminal negligence.

The Supreme Court trial jury heard on the opening day how the Indian-born parents knew Gloria was suffering from eczema on her face, arms, legs and torso at four months. However they failed to follow the advice of doctors who referred her to a dermatologist.

The jurors heard that by the time Baby Gloria was six months old, the eczema had begun weeping and her clothing and nappies would stick to her skin and tear whenever her parents changed her.

Mark Tedeschi QC the Crown prosecutor said the baby girl’s skin began to peel off, allowing infections to enter her bloodstream.

Mr Tedeschi said that in the last five months of her life, Gloria was subjected to repeated infections which “placed a great deal of stress on her body,”

“She wasn’t able to get sufficient nutrition to fight off infections and to grow.”

Gloria died from septicemia in May of 2002, weighing just 5.3kg - well below the third percentile for her age.

The trial, before Justice Johnson, continues.
