Parminder Sahota - Suspended for trying for a baby

A tribunal heard how Parminder Sahota, 37, an immigration officer highly praised for catching a terror suspect was suspended for taking too much time off to have IVF treatment.

Parminder said: “IVF takes over your whole life - you cannot think straight. Ultimately, this has had a catastrophic effect on my career and myself. My life has been a nightmare.”

Parminder Sahota who is married, told her employers the reason for her absence, yet she was disciplined and sent home after taking 12 days off for her fertility treatment course.

With her glowing record and identifying a terror suspect on a Eurostar train, one manager even accused her of, “only being interested in getting pregnant”, she has claimed. “I was shocked – it was entirely inappropriate.”

The UK Border Agency suspended Mrs Sahota in March last year over her absences in 2007. She challenged the Home Office ruling, claiming IVF did not count as sick days and she had been under considerable stress and in pain.

‘When I look back now, it’s a wonder how I coped,’ she said.

The challenge failed but months later she was offered another job, despite no reason being given for her suspension.

By this time, she had been signed off with ‘work-related’ depression. Mrs Sahota, who lives in Paris, is claiming sex and race discrimination. The hearing, in Kent, continues.

Paris Hilton Hoping For a Boy For Nicole and Joel

Paris talks about Nicole’s pregnancy announcement while Nicole talks about whether marriage is in the cards for her and Joel.

Paris Hilton loved doting on her best friend’s little girl Harlow when she was born and now she is finding the news about Nicole Richie expecting again “so exciting.” She said that Nicole’s dream of having a “big family” is coming true and is she is so happy for her. This time around, Paris is hoping for a little boy for Nicole and her boyfriend Joel Madden. “I hope it’s a boy. I would love for Harlow to have a little brother to look after her.”

While Paris looking forward to welcoming Nicole’s new little addition into the world, Nicole Richie is taking it one day at a time. She states that she has no plans at this time to marry her boyfriend Joel Madden, who is father to her daughter Harlow and baby on the way. She states that she  ”make it a custom not to plan the future.”

Although she doesn’t have any plans to marry Joel, she does talk about how great of a father he is. She also goes on to say that she is seeing more and more of herself in her daughter. “She had a close resemblance to Joel at the time of birth. But, she [now] looks like me because of her green eyes and blonde hair, but she also resembles Joel.”

Nicole is estimated to be around 3-4 months pregnant and due in late summer.
