Carrie Anne Burton pregnant

Teenager Carrie Anne Burton, 19, has been chosen from thousands of aspiring Irish models to win a contract with a top agency. Even bigger news is that she’s pregnant.

Carrie Anne Burton, from Downpatrick won the final of RTE’s, “The Model Agent” on Monday.

Chosen by international supermodel Erin O’Connor and well-known model scout Fiona Ellis, she’s sure to enjoy a successful career. In life she’s acheived success as a mother-to-be, due in July.

A series of auditions in Ireland last autumn to came up with 12 finalists. The competition was whittled down to Carrie Anne, Sharon Tuohey from Offaly and Amber Jean Rowan from Dublin.

When she heard that she had won, Carrie Anne said she was delighted.

“I was shocked but over the moon. I’m absolutely ecstatic, I am the happiest person ever!” she said.

Carrie Anne Burton speaking about how she ended up entered the competition, “The high points of the series were London - I loved the buzz of London, the castings and the catwalk and the fashion shoots were great too, I loved everything really apart from the TV commercial casting with Mark Summers. I can’t act to save my life so that was really tough!”

Supermodel Erin O’ Connor said, “Whenever I look back to when I first met Carrie Anne, just in her body language, she exemplified the girl that didn’t know what the hell all the fuss was about!

“I don’t think her looks were her priority, I don’t think she had ever really invested time in pursuing a career in modelling.

“Just the transformation of her being the giggler and the self conscious girl to seeing her hold her chin up high and take on the challenges even when she’s been clearly out of her comfort zone has been very rewarding and quite humbling.”

Ms Ellis predicted a bright future for Carrie Anne.

“She is incredibly beautiful, she also has this character and personality that is very individual and ‘Carrie Anne’ - it makes her very different,” she said.

“She’s quite quirky, she’s a bit scatty, she’s got a great sense of humour, very endearing, I find I want to hang with her more and find out more about her and I think that’s what the clients will love about her.”

She said she had “a great future in the business”.

“Her being pregnant and having a baby has given her a real sense of purpose… When you look around her at her family and her boyfriend who’s very solid, very strong I think she has an amazing support system around her and I think she has a real future.”
