Swine Flu claims New York’s Fifth Tragic Victim - A Baby
New York’s fifth swine flu death is a baby less than two years old said the NY city health department.
Erin Brady, a spokesperson at the health department said, “The fifth death is in a child under two years of age. I cannot give you any more specific details because of patient privacy.”
Two other adults had already died after contracting the swine flu virus. Just last week New York health officials reported the deaths of a 33-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman.
Hundreds of people have become infected in New York, leading to the temporary closing of dozens of schools, in one of the main outbreaks beyond Mexico, where the new strain of influenza originated.
Symptoms, however have mostly been mild in New York and swine flu victims have recovered quickly.
