MTV To Air “16 & Pregnant” To Show Harsh Reality of Teenage Pregnancy
MTV premiere a new documentary show this week called 16 and Pregnant, which will follow several teens who are dealing with the reality of teenage pregnancy.
MTV is no longer just for music videos anymore. Staying with the theme of such shows as True Life, MTV will premiere a new reality show documentary called 16 & Pregnant.
The show will air on Thursday at 10:00 pm and will run for six weeks. Each week the show will profile a new pregnancy and all the aspects around the teen pregnancy.
The premiere show will profile Maci and Ryan, a couple from Chattanooga, TN. She is a high school senior who plays softball, is a member of the cheerleading squad, and is an all around over-achiever. He is a mechanic who works the night shift. They met at the race track and she soon found herself pregnant shortly after meeting him. The show will tell her their story as she has to quit her high school and finish her senior year at another school. It will also show the other hardships of teen pregnancy such as financial issues, caring for the newborn, and growing up as you have the baby.
The show follows the couple through the last weeks of her pregnancy and the first couple weeks of having the baby at home. With this couple, they were actually set up in a nice apartment by family and live together as they raise their son Bentley, but not everything is fun and games. It shows what hard work it is to raise a baby.
MTV is hoping that teens along with their parents watch these shows every week. It is important for both parents and teens to watch to see the reality of what is happening with teen pregnancy.
16 & Pregnant can be seen on Thursdays at 10:00pm.
