Apparently the news of Celine Dion being pregnant was very premature and the singer is not actually pregnant yet.

Celine’s husband René Angélil, 67,  has spoken out saying that Celine is not pregnant yet but she will keep trying for a baby. He says, “We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use [IVF]. The process can be long and arduous.” He added, “But today, we are full of confidence. Celine is more determined than ever.”

A few months ago, Celine’s doctor had announced that the star was in fact pregnant but it is now being revealed that the embryos that were transplanted with the August and October IVF treatments were unsuccessful.

“Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn’t the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked,” said René.

The couple quickly tried again to get pregnant but once again was unsuccessful.

Celine and Rene have an 8-year-old son who as conceived by IVF by the same doctor who is currently helping the couple get pregnant again.

Rene also told the  Canadian paper Journal de Montreal, “I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests.” He added that they will be trying for the third time soon and that “Céline and I didn’t get discouraged … we put our faith in life and in the stars.”

Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, who performed Celine’s in vitro fertilization talks about the procedure and how Celine is doing.

According to Dr. Rosenwaks, when he called Celine to tell her the pregnancy test was positive “you could hear her chuckling.” He added, “She was very happy. So was René. They are both very thankful.”

Dr. Rosenwaks, who is the director of the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Center Medical Center also divulged that the embryo that was implanted was frozen in liquid nitrogen for the past eight years. He says, “She is very, very early in her pregnancy.”

Dion had her embryos frozen eight years ago when she went through IVF to conceive her first child Rene-Charles. When she completed her contract for her performances in Las Vegas back in 2007, she consulted the fertility specialist about having another child.

According to Dr. Rosenwaks, freezing an embryo for eight years is not something to be concerned about. “There have been embryos that have been [frozen] for more than 10 years, and even more than 15 years, that have successfully thawed and resulted in a pregnancy.”

The doctor added that “She is feeling well so far. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. René and Céline are both looking forward to a pregnancy that is a healthy one.”
