Trinity Vidal Hernandez was arrested yesterday and charged with attempted kidnapping at Samaritan Albany General Hospital’s maternity floor.  Other charges include initiating a false report, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

She walked into the Albany, Oregon, hospital emergency room on September 19 and told the hospital staff her friend was having triplets on the side of a county road and was being transported to the hospital by Life Flight.  In the middle of the hospital’s preparation for the arrival of the birthing mother, Trinity Hernandez disappeared from the emergency room area and showed up on the maternity floor.

Thanks to the quick action of the hospital’s alert staff, Hernandez never made it past the nurse station.  No kidnapping took place.  Police were quickly called and an investigation launched.

Even though Trinity Hernandez has three children of her own and 24 nieces and nephews, she apparently planned to take a newborn baby from an unsuspecting mother.

Police are investigating allegations that similar activity by Hernandez has taken place at several hospitals.  She has given her own family false information on several occasions leading them to believe that she was employed at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
