Maya Rudolph Is Trying Not To Gain 70 Pounds Again With This Pregnancy

Actress Maya Rudolph said that she went a little overboard with her first pregnancy and gained 70 pounds.
On a Late Show With David Letterman appearance, actress Maya Rudolph dished about her past pregnancy with her 3-year-old daughter Pearl and her current baby state. She admitted that she gained 70 pounds when she was pregnant with her daughter and doesn’t “think that was smart.”
“I think just about everywhere I went, about three times a day, I got the whole ‘Whoa, you’re huge!’ Like everywhere. And then the old standby: ‘How many months are you…What are you having, twins?’”
But she also added that the recommended pregnancy weight gain of 25 pounds is “crazy.” She did admit that with this pregnancy she is trying to be “more aware” of what she puts in her mouth and is not feasting on ice cream and pancakes everyday like she did with her last pregnancy.
One thing that she does hope to repeat with this pregnancy is a surprise deliver. Her and her husband Paul Thomas Anderson did not find out the sex with their first child and don’t plan on finding it out with this either.
“We didn’t find out with [Pearl] which was kind of fun. Because when you’re ready to throw in the towel and you’ve got nothing positive to think about or feel, because you’re so heavy and you want to float in a pool of salt water to be buoyant, it was nice to have something to look forward to.”

Maya Rudolph Pregnant with Second Child

Former Saturday Night Live star, Maya Rudolph is expecting her second child later this year.
The actress is expecting her second child with her partner, director Paul Thomas Anderson. The couple currently have a 3-year-old daughter named Pearl Bailey.
She revealed the news during an interview with ET Canada, saying, “I wasn’t planning on sharing it, but yes I am pregnant!”
The actress plays a pregnant woman in her new movie Away We Go, and acknowledges the irony of now being pregnant in real life. She said, “I know it’s really weird timing.”
According to Maya, this pregnancy is “totally different” than her first one. “The first time you are like wide-eyed: ‘What are we doing?, Who’s coming?, How do we take care of them?’ But this time, I’m like I have to sit down, I’m pregnant.’”
She went on to add, “When you have a three-and-a-half-year-old, you don’t have time to rest and nap and do all the those sweet pampering type things you did for yourself the first time. You are like, ‘I got to get to bed!’”
No word on what Maya’s due date is but she is believed to be the early second trimester.
