Samia Smith Welcomes a Daughter

The Coronation Street star gave birth to a girl today, whom she named Freya.

Samia Smith is a new mum according to a spokesperson for Coronation Street. “Samia Smith has today given birth to a baby girl named Freya, 7lbs 2oz. Mum and baby are doing well.”

The rep added, “Samia and husband Matt are delighted. Everyone at Corrie is thrilled at the latest arrival to the family.”

The birth of her daughter comes only 4 months after her character on the show gave birth to her son on a beach. Samia has been hiding her pregnancy on the show for the past 4 months. The actress finished her scenes a few weeks ago and is expected back in the spring from her maternity leave.

The actress announced that she was expecting her first child in April only a few short days after her father lost his battle with cancer. Samia said, “I am so pleased that we were able to tell my dad about the baby before he died.”

Samia was hoping for a natural childbirth and said that she had a “high pain threshold.”

Samia and Matthew have been married since September 2005.

Samia’s birth of her daughter continues the baby boom for the actors and actresses on Coronation Street. Her co-stars Julia Haworth, Alison King, Wanda Opalinska, and Jane Danson have all given birth in the past year or so.  Her other co-stars Andrew Whyment, Ryan Thomas, and Jack P Shepherd, have also welcomed babies into the family.

Celebrities Bring Their Kids Along to Ice Age 3 Premiere

The premiere of the movie Ice Age 3 in Leicester Square was full of celebrity families enjoying Father’s Day and spending time together.

It appeared that the premiere of Ice Age 3, a 3-D animated movie, was an event for the families. Celebrities showed up with their kids in tow ready to spend the day together and laugh at the movie.

Presenter Donna Air brought her daughter Freya while swimmer Sharon Davies brought along her son Finley.

Actor Greg Wise attended the premiere with his daughter Gaia, who’s mother is Emma Thompson. Actor Tom Carty arrived with his son two sons James and Thomas.

Donal Macintyre made it a family affair showing up to the premiere with his wife Ameera and their two daughters Allegra, 6, and Tiger, 2.

Pregnant celebrities were also a popular site on the red carpet. GMTV presenter Kate Garraway, who is expected to give birth any day now, made an appearance at the premiere. Also at the premiere was actress Camilla Rutherford, who is pregnant with her third child.
