Baby With “Untreatable Cancer” Makes a Miraculous Recovery

At only 4 months old, Maisey Fishwick was diagnosed with an untreatable brain cancer and was sent to a hospice to die.

Maisey’s mother Emma, was heartbroken at the fact that there was nothing that could be done for her daughter, but just days before the doctors expected Maisey to die, Eddy Estlin, a child cancer specialist found hope that she could be cured and sent her back to the hospital.

After 11 hours of surgery and 15 grueling months of chemotherapy, Maisey is not a healthy 21-month-old little girl.

Emma, who is a single mum, noticed that when her daughter was only a few months old that her skull was swollen on the top. She took Maisey to the doctor where they thought she had meningitis, but then was able to rule that out. After performing a scan, doctors noticed a large tumor growing on her brain stem.

Emma was told that nothing could be done for Maisey and was told to take her to Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley, Lancashire so she could die without all the pain.

Fortunately, Dr Estlin, consultant paediatric oncologist at Manchester Children’s Hospital decided to pay Maisey a visit and wanted pursue surgery on the little girl to get rid of the tumor. Maisey is now recovering after extensive chemotherapy. Although for right now she is in the clear, Dr. Estlin does not know for how long.

Dr. Estlin said, “Maisey has done really well, she’s staged a quite astonishing comeback. There’s a real pleasure and pride at seeing how well she’s done. She is a fighter and has had great support from her family and the community. It’s a magnificent comeback.”

Woman Gives Birth To Twins Without Even Knowing She Was Pregnant Until Six Months Along

Sally Giles welcomed twin girls only two weeks after she found out she was pregnant and six months along.

Sally Giles,34, thought she may have a thyroid condition as she was feeling tired and worn down, so her doctor performed some routine test on her. To her and the doctor’s surprise, Sally was pregnant. Not only was she pregnant, but she was already six months along and was pregnant with twins!

Only 13 days after finding out she was pregnant, Sally gave birth to to her twin daughters via emergency c-section.

Giles, who is also a mum to a 13-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son, didn’t have any normal pregnancy signs. She didn’t have morning sickness, still got her period on a regular basis and was still fitting into her normal pants.

“My jeans were feeling a little bit tighter but I could still easily fasten them. My stomach still looked flat and I was taking the contraceptive pill.”

She went on to say,

“I couldn’t take in what they were saying. I had done all the things that women are not supposed to do when they are pregnant. I’d eaten soft cheese and shellfish, gone on fairground rides, drunk wine, and we’d also been decorating upstairs so I’d carried a wardrobe down the stairs - and back up again.”

Sally also explained the reason for not having a baby bump at six months with twins. “The doctors thought my uterus had been stuck in my pelvis, which is why my bump hadn’t been able to grow outwards.”

Sally delivered her twin girls, Emma and Kate, who weighed in just at 2lbs each. After 4 months in the hospital, each of the girls were allowed to come home.

Sally said, “Two weeks before, life was just normal - then suddenly I was the mum of twins. Even though they weren’t planned, they have made our family complete.”

         

Popular Baby Names - Emily has lost the top spot to Emma

Ever popular baby name Emily, which had a 12 year reign as the No.1 name for girls ended in 2008. Emma is now the top baby name for girls, followed by Isabella, Emily, Madison and Ava. Jacob for boys.

Jacob was the top baby boy’s name for the 10th year.

“Barack” didn’t crack the top 1,000, though he did move up a record 10,126 spots, to No. 2,409.

Elvis is still in the building, but he fell from 673 to 713.

Popular teen singer Miley Cyrus, had her name moved up 152 spots to No. 127. Her stage name, Hannah, (Hannah Montana) fell from No. 9 to No. 17.

Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue said: “There’s something about naming a child that’s a very existential statement,”

“As you read through this you see the influence of recent immigration, religion, popular culture. Sometimes, it’s just people who are admired.”

The Social Security Administration started compiling name lists in 1997. The agency offers lists of baby names dating to 1880.

The top five boys names remained unchanged from 2007. Jacob was followed by Michael, Ethan, Joshua and Daniel the Social Security Administration announced Friday.
