The Mother of a 6 month-old baby who survived after being run over by a 250-ton train at a suburban railway station in Melbourne told the television programme, “A Current Affair” her son was the “world’s luckiest baby”.

Shweta Verma, 29, a dentist from Melbourne, said “everything went blank” when the overwhelming terror of her baby son Saurish rolling away from her in a stroller and towards the platform edge took hold.

She describes how she had tried to leap for the stroller before it fell over the edge of the platform at the Melbourne station with the train seconds away from approaching. The train did hit the stroller and performed an emergency stop.

Shweta has been viewed by Millions around the world via You Tube with comments varying from, “You are clearly a retard” and “stupid!!!!!!!!!!!! ” to, “thank you jesus!! “.

In an interview with Woman’s Day magazine Shweta said: “It was a life and death fear – I thought I’d lost my child, who I love more than anyone or anything else – but then the next moment, all I could think was how to find him and see how he was.

“The first feeling was, ‘My baby is alive!’ It was the most incredible moment I have ever experienced,”

Saurish, the baby, was incredibly able to escape the whole incident with only a small bump to his head.
