Mother of 7-Year-Old Somer Thompson Pleads for Her Return

Diene Thompson spoke to media today for the first time since her daughter Somer disappeared on Monday afternoon on her mile-long walk home from Grove Park Elementary School in Orange Park, Florida.

Somer’s mother told authorities that Somer was squabbling with another child, and her sister told her to stop.  The little girl got upset and ran ahead of the group.  She has not been seen again.

Somer is described as 3 feet 5 inches tall and 65 pounds with brown hair in a ponytail with a red bow.  She was last seen wearing a cranberry-colored sweatsuit with pink stripes on the sleeve and pants.  She also had a black, pink and white backpack with a skull and hearts.  She may be wearing a white hat and scart.

Her mother described a large, irregular shaped birthmark on Somer’s left shin as an additional distinguishing feature.

“Just drop her off somewhere,” Diena Thompson said through her tears.  “I don’t care if you ever get in trouble — I want my baby back.”

While investigators said they have no evidence someone took Somer, they are very concerned for her welfare because of her age and the length of time she has been missing.

“She is definitely endangered and we do suspect foul play,” Clay County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Dan Mahla said Tuesday afternoon.

Hundreds of law enforcement officials, U.S. Navy personnel, and mounted search-and-rescue volunteers have searched every square inch of the area looking for clues.  Somer Thompson disappeared without a trace.  Hundreds of leads have been reported, but no clues have been identified.

Officers have extended the search area and interviewed about 75 known sex offenders in a five-square-mile radius.  Teams of volunteers are walking arm-to-arm through the woods, and deputies are using helicopters and search dogs.

“We’re still at a situation where Somer has disappeared off the face of the earth,” Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said.

Please say a prayer for the safe return of this little girl, and for a break in the case!

Six-year-old, Falcon Heene, was thought to be missing in a flyaway balloon, but has been found alive and well after hiding in a box in the attic the whole time.

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderman held thumbs up to reporters at a media conference and said, “He’s at the house.”

Alderden said, “He was found in a box in the attic above the garage,”

The “Balloon Boy” saga, the culmination of a two-hour, 80km journey through two counties, captivated people around the world as they stopped to watch the sight on television. A flying saucer looking balloon gliding through the air, with what they thought was a small boy inside an attached box.

One of the boy’s two older brothers said Falcon Heene had get into a box that was attached to the balloon with pegs.

Colorado Army National Guard sent a helicopter and was preparing to send a Black Hawk to try to rescue the boy. Pilots of ultralight aircraft were also contacted and consulted abouth the possibility of weighing down the homemade craft. The saga also led to a shutdown of northbound departures from one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Eventually the balloon landed on its own in a dirt field.

Young Mother And Baby Killed After Meeting Murderer On Craigslist

A young mother has been murdered after she was befriended by a lady she met on Craigslist.

Korena Roberts, 28, has been charged with murder after the body of a young mother was found in the crawl space under her kitchen.

Roberts, from Oregon, called for medical assistance on Friday after she said that her newborn baby was in distress.

They arrived at the scene to find Roberts’ boyfriend trying to revive the baby boy. Medics sent the baby and Roberts to a hospital after they found a lot of blood at the home.

Sgt. David Thompson from Washington County Sheriff’s office said “Doctors at the hospital were not able to revive the baby,”

“They also discovered that Ms. Roberts had not delivered a child at anytime in the recent past.”

When they returned to the home, they found the body of 21-year-old Heather Snively who had been 8-months pregnant when she had gone missing.

They have determined that Snively was the mother of the child, but need to investigate further to find out whether she had died after the birth, or if the child had been removed from her once she had been killed.

Robert’s had told her neighbours that she was pregnant, although they told reporters that she did not look like she was.

It is believed that Snively met Roberts through Craigslist as she was selling used baby clothes.
