Car smashes into roof of suburban home in Australia

A suburban family home in Australia was startled awake with the sound of a car engine revving without traction and crashing through the roof. Thankfully the family escaped with their three-month-old baby girl.
A speeding car had flew through the air after smashing a traffic light and hitting a mound of ramped earth, then smashed into Peter and Kay Arnold’s bungalow roof in a Sydney suburb.
Hurriedly grabbing their baby daughter Zoe, the Arnold’s dashed out into the street - and were astonished when they saw the car ‘parked’ in their roof.
It was sheer luck that the car had not crashed through the ceiling into the bedroom.
Mr Arnold told neighbours, “The crash frightened the life out of us,”
A police officer said, “It’s not the kind of sight you expect to find when you’re called out to a traffic accident,
“None of us could believe our eyes.”
It took over an hour for Ambulance, police and fire rescue teams to free the two men, return them to terra firma then to hospital. They were said later to be in a stable condition.
Mr and Mrs Arnold were said to have been shaken but told rescuers they were thankful they and their daughter were able to walk away unharmed.
It’s suspected that speed and alcohol were the main contributing factors in the crash, police are also investigating whether a street race had occured beforehand.
