Poppy appeal thieves in the Headington area of Oxford - Police need your help
Shocking CCTV footage has captured a young couple stealing a Poppy Appeal tin by hiding it in their daughter’s pram.
Far from being the young couple’s first theft, they have helped themselves to 10 poppy tins, filled with public donations meant for injured servicemen.
A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police said: “These are despicable crimes, especially at this time of remembrance.
“They are clearly organised and know exactly what they are doing by deliberately targeting these charity tins. Using their own child as a decoy is appalling.”
They are believed to have stolen hundreds of pounds in donations.
Police today released CCTV footage of the pair stealing a tin from Salon Scandinavia hairdressers in Headington.
The woman is described as around 5ft 4in tall, with brown hair and wore glasses.
The man is described as around 6ft 2in tall, was wearing a black beanie hat and wore a cream-coloured fleece.
Dick Evans, investigating the incident for Thames Valley Police, said: “The box was discarded close by and the cash had been removed.
“I appeal to anyone who recognises either this man or woman to contact police immediately.”
The team appear to be targeting the Headington area of Oxford.
Anyone with information can contact Thames Valley Police on 0845 8505505.
