Army Sgt. Uses Web Cam To Watch Birth Of First Child
A Pennsylvania Army National Guardsman who is deployed out in Iraq has used a Web cam to coach his wife through the birth of their first child.
Sgt. Justin Allenbaugh, 25, found out at Christmas that his wife Roxanne was pregnant. Knowing that he would miss the birth as he would be serving his second tour in Iraq, he decided to turn to technology for help.
Allenbaugh arranged for a Web cam to be set up at West Penn Hospital-Forbes Regional Campus. The couple were able to use the Web cam so they could both be involved in the birth of their daughter.
Their baby girl arrived on Monday and was called Gemma Rose. Allenbaugh is due to return from Iraq in September.
