Twins born to mother on, “The Pill”

The chances for getting pregnant while on the pill are believed to be 99-1.

Carly O’Brien, 22, has beaten odds of 11.3 million to one to birth two sets of twins whilst on, “The Pill.”

Carly from Portsmouth said: ‘It’s amazing that Brandon and Daisy were born in October 2006, when I was on the pill”.

Carly and her partner John Grant, 28, were astounded when she gave birth to her first set of twins Brandon and Daisy. Two years later, Carly has given birth to another miracle set of twins, Dylan and Lilly. This has confounded medical experts

Carly’s first pregnancy was smooth after giving birth to healthy unidentical twins Brandon and Daisy, weighing by Cesarean section in October 2006.

Carly was overjoyed with her two children and sure she did not want any more, she opted for a stronger contraceptive pill, which had to be taken twice daily. Only 18 months later, when Carly missed a period she was shocked, the impossible had happened again.

Carly’s pregnancy with her second set of unidentical twins was far more complicated than the first. Baby Lilly was not growing as fast as her brother Dylan and when the pair were born by Cesarean section at St Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth, on December 23 Lilly weighed just 3lbs.

The tiny baby girl, measuring just 12 inches from head to toe, was small enough to fit in the palm of her mother’s hand.

Dylan, weighing 6lbs, was born with breathing difficulties and the two newborns were kept in intensive care until doctors felt they were well enough to go home.

Dylan was allowed to return to the family home on January 5 and sister Lilly followed just a week later. Both are doing just fine now.
