A REALLY GREAT IDEA FOR BABIES, PLEASE READ!

i have been told of a great way to entertain your baby (best for babies who are able to sit up) get together a 'treasure basket'.

YOU WILL NEED:

- A BOX OR A BASKET (QUITE A BIG ONE)

- LOTS OF BITS AND BOBS - Any bits and bobs from around the house such as brushes, keyrings, fabric, bottle tops,, lids, loofahs, toothbrushes, bean bags, fir cones, compact mirrors, spoons, sponges, nail files, tea strainers, whisk, cookie cutters ..... just afew ideas! basically any household object that cannot harm your baby (obviously, i know!)

METHOD

Easy just put all the interesting (they will be to your baby!) objects into the box and put box in your baby's reach and let him her explore their 'treasure box' i can guarantee that this keeps babies quiet and interested for quite a while, more than enough time for a cuppa! when your baby is finished put the box away for another time and add items to it whenever you can! look in the pound shops for bits and pieces and let your imagination get carried away (the more 'treasure' in hte box the better!) this does not have to cost any money and you could make one now, just have a look around you may be surprised at what your baby finds fascinating! look  in my gallery to see a picture of charlie playing with his (it took just 10 mins to make and i keep thinking of more things to add) let me know how you get on, would love to see some pics of your babies playing with theirs, have fun!  (and please supervise your child whilst playing with it!) take care and have fun xxxx

i know i don't need to say this - it makes me feel better for saying it! - but please make sure that anything you use in your childs treasure basket is not small enough to make your child choke, or indeed have any small parts that potentially could break off! x take care and have fun!

Treasure baskets are an excellent idea. I was introduced to them by my PALS worker when Bethan was a baby and would really reccomend them. Bethan is 2 now and still loves her treasure baskets.

Yup, great idea, my Charlie loves his treasure basket too! His favourite object is the pine cone! He has an old mobile phone and crisp packets, envelopes with plastic windows and a ball of wool (not so intersted in that though!) Also got a reel (a cotton thingy) a wooden spoon, a flannel and a tooth brush!

And loads more i cant remeber! We should start an inspiration post for more ideas of what to put in!

Big Hugs

Laura

Here is Alyssa's , I cant let her play with half of the items you have listed, as she always finds a way to hurt herself or using items to gag herself

She has been using this for MONTHS!!
