Breastfeeding ban by Pub staff left Mother feeling, “Criminal”
Pub staff at the Freemasons Arms in Hampstead, north London are alleged to have ordered a Mother to stop breastfeeding her baby because customers were, “eating their meals”.
Elizabeth Simpson, 28, had eaten her own lunch at the pub before covering her breast with a scarf and giving her 10-week old daughter baby a feed.
Ms Simpson said she complained to the manager who defended the staff decision.
“We have been there several times because we thought it was a child-friendly place.
“But we felt we were rushed out of the restaurant and made to feel like criminals.
“Nothing was on show and I think it is really disappointing.”
Ms Simpson asked the staff what they suggested she did to feed her baby they said she could go downstairs out of the way or use the toilets.
“They said it was their policy not to have breastfeeding in the restaurant but there was no sign saying that.”
A Freemasons Arms spokesman said in a u-turn on the alleged response from management: “we sincerely apologize and hope the customer is willing to visit the pub again in the future.”
The pub is popular with pop stars like former-Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton and feuding Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher.
