29-Year-Old From Milford To Be Charged For Death Of Newborn Son
A 29-year-old mother from Milford could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty of the death of her newborn baby.
Alissa Pugh, from Milford, Worcester, was convicted in January on charges of involuntary manslaughter.
When interviewed, she told investigators that she believed she was only three months pregnant and thought she was having a miscarriage. She gave birth to the baby boy in January 2007 while sitting on the toilet. Pugh was later charged with failing to call medical assistance which resulted in her baby’s death.
She has been found guilty of the improper disposal of the body, which was later discovered in the back of a rubbish collection truck.
Pugh will appear today in Worcester Superior Court, where she faces a maximum sentence of 20 years for involuntary manslaughter.
