Hiya, I've got 2 children, I had my first in hospital as advised by midwife and doctor, I didn't feel in control of anything at all although as Callum had had a bowel movement before he was born I was in the right place. I had my second in a birthing unit and the labour was very short (just under 3 hours) and we were pretty much left to get on with things, we had the radio playing and the atmosphere was so much more relaxed but there was help on hand if we needed it. We are thinking about having another baby in the next couple of years and I would definately consider a home birth, I hate being away from home and I came out of hospital both times within hours of them being born which defeats the object of staying in hospital for a rest as I can never sleep in those places. I would really love to have a home birth but Steve isn't so sure but it's one of those things there are pros and cons with everything.
