Now your unborn baby can experience music and sound with the new Ritmo Advanced Pregnancy Sound System.
Do you feel the urge to tell a story to your unborn child? Do you want to share the soothing sounds of classical music with you baby while still in the womb? It’s possible now thanks to a collection of parents in the fields of engineering, design and business.
U.S.-based Nuvo Group has recently released its Ritmo Advanced Pregnancy Sound System. Based on a variety of research studies, the device consists of a washable fabric belt, four small speakers, and a controller.
The belt, which also has an extension, is comfortably placed around the belly of the expectant mother, and almost any MP3 or MP4 player can be attached to the device. A special controller regulates the output of sound so that the sound in the womb is always maintained at a safe level, regardless of the volume used on the music player.
Nuvo Group’s Web site provides numerous links to research that support its technology. The group claims that research into the Mozart Effect, fetal brain development, and memory retention all influenced its creation of the pregnancy device.
“Oren, our CEO and Founder, saw his wife struggling with the common solution to play in-utero music to their first born: headphones on the belly,” states the company’s Web site. “As an engineer, he recognized the need and opportunity for a product which was designed for both mothers and babies to deliver sound, and came up with the concept of Ritmo.”
The company also plans to release applications that extend the usability of the product beyond the womb. Though little information was given about how the new applications would be installed on the device, the site claims that the sound system will be extended to provide “sounds and music in the crib, in the stroller, and during play time.”
