Oklahoma Police Officer Finds Abandoned Baby in Car as Kidnapping Report Made

An Oklahoma baby girl is doing fine after a suspicious police officer found her abandoned in a car.

The 7-month-old baby was discovered at about 1:15 a.m. Monday in a car parked near NW 122nd and Quail Creek Road in Oklahoma City. She was covered by items which Oklahoma authorities were stolen in a series of home burglaries. The outside temperature was 34 degrees, but the infant appeared to be in good condition and required no immediate medical attention. The baby was later turned over to her father.

Oklahoma authorities are still sorting the pieces to the puzzle. The officer first noticed an illegally parked car with two people inside. The officer saw a woman walk away from the car toward a house. He returned to the vehicle to place a sticker on the car and was standing beside the car when a woman called 911 to report her baby had been kidnapped and was in a car matching the description of the parked vehicle. The officer found the baby in the back seat, covered by strollers and toys.

Amy Ann Owen returned to the car and told the officer she was the one who had made the 911 call. Owen gave several versions of the kidnapping story. Later police received a call concerning a man matching the description of the man in the car and knocking on a door in the neighborhood.

Both Owen and Cory Ray Hall were arrested on complaints of receiving and concealing stolen property. They were booked into the Oklahoma County jail. Hall has been released on bail, and Owen remained in jail Monday afternoon in lieu of $12,000 bail.
