Josh Kelley Writes a Song for his Daughter Naleigh

Having recently adopted a little girl with his wife actress Katherine Heigl, Josh Kelley decided to write a new song using his daughter Naleigh as the inspiration.

Josh Kelley will be making a switch over to country music in March and decided to have his 1-year-old daughter be the inspiration for one of the tracks on the yet-untitled album. The song Naleigh Moon is dedicated to his daughter, who he and Katherine Heigl adopted this summer.

“I don’t think I could’ve ever written a song like that without having a kid,” he notes in a new interview with The Boot. “You know how people write songs about things that they don’t really experience, but they’re so good at writing that they can do that? That’s not me.”

He added, “I have to experience it to write about it. And when my little girl started touching my beard and wanting me to hold her instead of other people, I was like, ‘Aw, she’s mine! And she loves me!’”

Naleigh is the first child for Josh and Katherine. The couple has always been open about the possibility of adopting even before they married.

In regards to Naleigh he says, “She’s a good baby. She’s spoiling us.”
