Woman goes into labor while husband locked out of the house
The woman was forced to give birth alone after her husband rushed home… without his keys.
Atefeh Behereshi of Harlow, Essex visited the hospital for her normal check up, but was told by the doctor that she would have to be induced the following day due to low levels of hemoglobin. Behereshi returned home with her 18-month-old daughter, Rose, expecting to deliver the baby the next day. However, plans changed.
That evening, while her husband, Hadi, was at work, she unexpectedly went into labor. “I was in labor with Rose for 14 hours so I didn’t think there was any rush,” Behereshi told the Telegraph.
“I called Hadi and asked him to come early to take me to hospital. I was in the bathroom and I could feel the head coming. I tried not to panic and just thought I needed to keep the baby safe.”
Hadi rushed home from work, only to discover that he didn’t have his keys, and the door was locked.
Atefeh Behereshi said: “He had given me his keys so when he got home he asked me to open the door. It couldn’t because I was in the bathroom upstairs.
“The window was open so he could hear me, and he was talking to me telling me not to be scared and that an ambulance was on its way.”
“I was panicking,” said Hadi. “I had rung for an ambulance but I didn’t know what to do. In the end I smashed a window to get in and rushed upstairs only to find my wife holding the baby.”
“We were told that there is no way one person should be able to deal with the pain and deliver the baby.”
The 7 pound baby girl is said to be “doing well”.
