Stacey Herald to give birth again, World’s smallest mom

The world’s smallest mum, Stacey Herald, 35, is expecting her third child, this in the face of physical adversity which means the pregnancy may kill her.

Just 2ft 4ins tall, Stacey Herald’s baby will already be half her size when he is born.

From Dry Ridge, Kentucky, USA, Stacey suffers from Osteogenesis Imperfecta otherwise known as Brittle Bone Disease, or “Lobstein syndrome”, a genetic bone disorder. This condition leaves her growth stunted and forces her to use a wheelchair.

Stacey has been warned by doctors that the pregnancy could kill her, however, she and her 5ft 9in-tall husband and trainee priest Will, insist their children are a gift from god.

She said: “We didn’t plan to have more than two kids, we just think that they’re a great gift to the world, and when I look at them I see Will and I feel so full of love, it’s tough not to want more.

Doctors warned Stacey the first time round that a baby would grow so large inside her tiny body it would eventually crush her organs, strangling her from the inside out. However, the first child Kateri was born in 2006 and suffers from the same condition as Stacey. A second daughter Makaya followed in 2008.

Now both daughters are bigger than their mom who is 30 weeks pregnant with her first boy.

Stacey Herald said: “It’s getting tougher and tougher to move. At the moment because I’m getting really big again I can’t hold my youngest daughter because my belly gets in the way and I can’t get my arms around her.

“All my babies are miracles, but we haven’t thought about if we’re going to have some more, as they’re a real handful right now.”
