Lesbian couples make better parents than a man and a woman
Research at Birkbeck College and Clark University in Massachusetts suggests that same-sex couples make good parents because children cannot be conceived accidentally. Parents must make an active decision to adopt or find a sperm donor.
Now a senior member of the Government’s parenting academy has said that Lesbians are better at raising children than traditional male and female parents. The statement has caused controversy particularly because it’s such a sweeping conclusion.
The annual British Social Attitudes Report, discloses that more than a third of people now believe same-sex parents are as good as heterosexual couples.
The director of research at the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners, Stephen Scott, said his research shows children from lesbian couples do better in life than the offspring of heterosexual couples.
Mr Scott said in a sweeping statement: “Lesbians make better parents than a man and a women,”
His statement draws backing from research that suggests children with two female parents are more aspirational than those with opposite-sex parents.
Such strong endorsement from the government’s main agency for parenting will give a boost to gay parents.
Jon Davies, chief executive of the Families Need Fathers organisation, said: “it is the quality of parenting that counts in the end regardless of the parents.”
Conservative MP Nadine Dorries argued that the number of children being raised by lesbians was so small that conclusions could not be taken seriously and parenting groups have recently been accused of turning into vocal advocates for the tiny minority of parents who are gay couples.

Of course, once this scientific study is leaked into the non-scientific public, the discussion will fall apart into a series of fallacious arguments, especially the slippery slope and the equivocation crowd. Get ready to plug your ears to the angry reaction from the right, who will scream that “science is trying to destroy common sense”!
Anyone who honestly sits and thinks about heterosexual versus homosexual parents will see the obvious advantage for homosexual couples - no accidental births. Additionally, the processes required for artificial childbirth or adoption require serious planning; and in the case of adoption, the couple must have a stellar record and must meet a very high bar of approval.
Perhaps there is some benefit to having a positive example of an adult male and female, but I’ve seen enough heterosexual couples that teach awful examples to know that preventing gays from having children will not help that goal.
