Garrett Cole Gower arrested in Fort Worth killing of pregnant 16 year-old

Garrett Cole Gower, 20, the boyfriend of pregnant Brittany Munoz aged just 16 and found dead Tuesday inside a Fort Worth apartment was arrested Friday, police said.

Police began searching for Garrett Cole Gower, as a “person of interest” after Brittany Munoz was found by her sister inside the family’s unit located in the 1700 block of Timber Creek Road.

A capital murder warrant was issued for Gower at about 2:30 p.m. Friday and he was taken into custody hours later, Flower Mound police said Gower was found at a Bedford mental health facility.

Investigators said Gower had spent Monday night at the apartment and left early Tuesday. According to the affidavit, Gower was at Brittany’s family’s apartment Monday evening to spend the night, which was common, her mother, Judith Munoz, told police. Gower apparently left because about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Brittany sent Gower a text message: “I’m texting your mom to make sure you get home and don’t do anything stupid. I’m going to tell her I’m pregnant.”

Investigators said Munoz died from blunt force trauma to the head. Her funeral service was held Friday.
