Doncaster Baby born in speeding car on Motorway
Jenny O’Halloran from South Yorkshire went into labour and set off for the nearest hospital in Doncaster, with her partner.
It was the usual hurried affair, however the due baby was about to shock the couple by arriving faster than they expected.
Baby William was born on the M180, (Motorway) while partner Jamie Ostle was driving.
Father Jamie Ostle said: “When Jenny said catch him, I just put my hand out and caught him.
“It’s one of those amazing things in life that brings you so much closer as a couple and so close to baby Billy.
“He popped out and looked more shocked than we did to be honest, he wasn’t crying, he was just looking around as if to say ‘where am I, what’s happened’.”
He added: “To say he was born at such speed and hectic pace, he’s really laid back and placid.
Paramedics arrived at the hard shoulder of the Motorway to find Baby Billy wrapped in a blanket with parents waiting.
Mother and baby were then taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Jenny O’Halloran said her partner coped “amazingly well”.
The fast birth was particularly unexpected as Jenny endured long labours giving birth to her previous two children.
“I was in labour for 16 hours last time, so I thought we had plenty of time to get to the hospital,” she said.
