3 Year Old Suri Cruise Still Seen Drinking from a Bottle
Katie Holmes is receiving much criticism as she was seen holding Suri while she drank a bottle. Suri is 3 years old and according to most pediatricians way beyond the appropriate age for a bottle.
Most pediatricians recommend that parents take away a bottle from a child around 1 year of age and usually no later than 18 months of age. Apparently Katie Holmes has not gotten that message because her 3-year-old daughter Suri was seen drinking from a bottle just this week.
There are pictures of Katie feeding Suri a bottle while on the set of her movie, The Romantics.
Dr. Jennifer Shu, pediatrician told Usmagazine, “She should have been weaned off the bottle by the time she was one year old. By the time kids are nine months old, they have the physical development and mouth coordination necessary to be able to drink out of a sippy cup or a cup with straw. That development comes pretty early.”
She added, “You don’t force kids to crawl when they can walk.”
On the other hand, Dr. Harvey Kep, who is the author of The Happiest Toddler on the Block, says that it is not a big deal. He says, “Sucking is normal for kids when they are tired or bored — as long as kids aren’t keeping the bottle in their mouths for hours. Thumb-sucking is more damaging.”
Dr. Shu says that if Suri is using the bottle as a comfort, Katie and Tom should offer her a different comfort object such as a blanket or stuffed animal.
If you read most baby and toddler books as well as read parenting websites, they recommend that a bottle is taken away way before the age of 3. so why are Tom and Katie letting Suri still drink from a bottle? Does she still use a bottle at preschool? Does anyone else find it strange that this little girl can wear high heel shoes but still drinks from a bottle?
When did you take the bottle away from your little one?

Leave the poor girl alone, so what if she still wants a bottle at 3! ‘Doctors’ need to leave parents to it we don’t need all the ‘advice’. Its not all about whats ‘right’ according to the book.

jezabell…parents who let their 3 year old (if it’s …yes I said it is even theirs) wear high heels and summer clothes during winter then seen to cradle this rotten child like she’s an infant with a bottle???? excuse me, but that child should be given discipline lessons. I can’t say to send the child back to her momma and the momma raise her because obviously, the mother does not know how to raise a child. The child wears the pants…this child will grow up as another Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton…

AND she’s still wearing diapers. Unbelievable. I would stop bragging about how strong of a woman Suri is and how magical she is and I would start potty training her. Obviously she’s not that perfect.

Tome and his wife are responsible for the spiritual welbeing of thier child. If they are sending her to a Catholic School (a truly positive step) they also need to live by the moral teachings of the Church. Material spoiling is no substitute for a happy, healthy, spiritual upbringing. Perhaps they should try setting an example to thier child, by letting her see how rewarding it is to give.

I like this cause that means that not only do they have the same problems as anybody else. Some children just don’t give in to letting that bottle go so early, my daughter is 3 and we both had a rough time for 2 years so i never forced her to give it up but we are getting there slowly.

This all falls under the catagory of “None of your Buisness”. Do I agree with a three year old drinking from a bottle…no I don’t, but I will tell you that if you choose to put your nose in my dealings with my three year old, you’re not going to like the response you get back. We all like to stand back and judge when it is someone else in the firing zone but sure will not like it if it was us they were aiming at. Back off and mind your, I’m sure they have enough going on that they really don;t give a big rat’s tail what you think of them!
