4 Million Inflatable Baby Floats Recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of 4 million inflatable baby floats that were sold in the United States and Canada due to a drowning risk.
The inflatable floats were made by a company called Aqua Leisure Industries, who is voluntarily recalling 14 models of the inflatable baby floats due to possible drowning risks for babies and toddlers. The leg straps on the floats can tear, which makes it possible for the baby to fall into the water and drown.
There have been 31 reports of the seats tearing so far.
The baby floats were sold from December 2002 through June 2009 at nationwide retailers. Some of those retailers include Target, Kids ‘R’ Us, Wal-Mart, KMart, Dollar General, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond. The floats were also sold in stores in Canada as well.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is asking that parents stop using the floats and send them back to the company. You can find out more information about the recall on Aqua Leisure’s website.
