Blogger Admits That Terminally Ill Baby Was a Hoax
Beccah Beushausen, a 26-year-old social worker from the Chicago suburbs, admits to making up her blog about her terminally ill baby.
Thousands of people around the world read the blog about April, a terminally ill baby, thinking it was all true. But, light has been shed on the story and the blogger, who referred to herself as “April’s mom” or “B” has no admit that there was no baby and she made up the whole story.
Her blog was appealed to thousands of anti-abortion supporters and Christians as she told the story of how she chose to carry her baby to full term even though she was terminally ill. She was event sent gifts from some of her supporters.
More and more people were brought to her blog and she even had advertisers for her blog which included established parenting websites and anti-abrotion organizations.
But, things began to change when “B” claimed to give birth to her “miracle baby.” It was told that April survived a home birth but died hours later at home. Her blog received millions of hits that day.
So, how did she get caught? She posted a picture of her supposed baby on the blog wrapped in swaddled blankets. The problem? The baby was a lifelike doll that was recognized by a dollmaker who had the exact same doll.
By Monday morning, she had been outed by her followers and there were some very angry people. Beccah raced to delete her Facebook page, Twitter account and the blog, but it was too late. People found out her real identity.
She was called by the Chicago Tribune and admitted to the hoax. “I know what I did was wrong,” she said. “I’ve been getting hate mail. I’m sorry because people were so emotionally involved.” She also said that she really has lost a child back in 2005, when she lost her son shortly after birth. She said that she made the blog to express her anti-abortion feelings and deal with her grief.
She went on to say, “Soon I was getting 100,000 hits a week, and it just got out of hand. I didn’t know how to stop. … One lie led to another.”
It is believed that Beccah did not profit from her blog in anyway, but she still has hundreds of people who helped her and supported her that are quite angry at her and don’t understand how she could do a thing like she did.

I think it is important to note that Beccah Beushausen WAS NOT a social worker and that the Tribune was incorrect in stating so. Just like a lawyer or a doctor, a person must be licensed by the state in order to carry the title of social worker. This individual does not appear in the database provided by IDFPR at http://www.idfpr.com/DPR/licenselookup/
Please stop reporting that she was.

She is not a social worker, she promoted her website under various names. This was a thought out, planned out money scheme. She also has lied about various other things. The journalist that wrote the article you got this information from did not do any sort of research, even just some browsing on the internet would have revealed more than he wrote.
