Bristol Palin Joins Forces With Hayden Panettiere In Teen Pregnancy Prevention Meeting
Single teen mother Bristol Palin is joining forces with Heroes star Hayden Panettiere and the Candie’s Foundation to help prevent teen pregnancies.
Bristol Palin, the teen daughter of Sarah Palin, caught the media’s attention last year during the presidential race when it was revealed that she was pregnant. Well, now she is speaking out against teen pregnancy and trying to help others so that they do not have to go through the same thing she did.
Bristol teamed up with Hayden Panettiere and the Candie’s Foundation at a town-hall like meeting to speak on the issues of teen pregnancy. Even though Bristol has said in the past that her mother’s view of abstinence does not work, at the meeting she said that abstinence is the only “100 percent” way to prevent teen pregnancies.
On the other hand, Hayden Panettiere said, “There’s a lot of different viewpoints on sex, and I’m not someone who will ever boo-hoo anything or say, ‘This is not right,’ or, ‘This is wrong. You’re going to do what you’re going to do, but at the end of the day, it’s okay as long as you educate yourself, as long as you’re safe, as long as you’re smart.”
She also went on to say, “This is just a human thing. It’s natural, it’s what everyone does, but most people don’t realize how serious things are until it directly impacts them and their lives or the lives of the people around them, and I think this is one of those things where as a young female you go, ‘Oh, it’ll never happen to me, oh, it happens to people, but it’ll never happen to me,’ and then it does happen.”
When Bristol was asked about how her life has changed since giving birth to her son Tripp in December, she replied,”You don’t have friends, can’t just go to the movies, get your hair done. You put your baby first. She also said, if she would not have had Tripp, she “would have been to college out of state, hanging out with my friends, a lot more freedom.”
The meeting was done to bring awareness to teen pregnancy, as yesterday was National Teen Pregnancy Awareness Day in the United States.
