Baby Buggies that face forward are, “Traumatic” for children
A study suggests that baby buggies which face forward could stunt the development of children and even turn them into anxious adults.
Researchers found that Babies and children have higher stress and sometimes even, “trauma” in front facing buggies.
Parents attention’s were turned away from the child and were spoken to only rarely, at a stage of life when interaction is critical to development.
In stark contrast, children in parent-facing buggies were more likely to listen to their mothers talking, to sleep and to laugh. Indicating lower levels of stress.
The study carried out at Dundee University, the first to study the psychological effects of pushchairs/buggies, researchers observed 2,722 parents around the country. They found that parents were more than twice as likely to talk to their child if they used a face-to-face buggy, 25 per cent against 11 per cent.
Logically, If parents cannot easily see their infants faces, they may not realise in just how much distress their are in.
The average British child spends up to two hours a day in a pushchair between birth and the age of three, the study said.
