Baby, “Brighton” named after the City
An American couple have named their baby, “Brighton” after a city visit left the couple, “enamored” from the experience.
The are already planning a return to the city on their fifth wedding anniversary.
Dean and Kelly Hernandez, of Columbus, in Ohio visited four years ago staying at the Grand Hotel after winning the trip to Brighton in a charity auction run by a TV station.
In an email to the council’s tourism arm VisitBrighton, Mr Hernandez said: “We were absolutely enamored of our experience in England but especially with Brighton and with the wonderful people we had the opportunity to meet there.
“In all of our travels around the world, there has been no place whose people made such a singularly good impression upon us.”
The couple have promised to return to the city with their daughter for their fifth anniversary.
David Smith, Councillor for tourism, said: “It’s an example of the sterling work staff are doing for the city behind the scenes to attract visitors and boost business.”
