Madonna Speaks Out About The Denial For Adoption in Malawi
Madonna has finally spoken out about being denied the adoption of the little Malawian girl Mercy.
Madonna is speaking out for the first time after being denied by the courts of Malawi for adoption of the 3-year-old little girl Mercy. The singer sent an email to Malawi’s national newspaper.
Madonna wrote, “‘I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible. ‘And it’s my hope that she, like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country’.”
She also went on to write, “Though I have been advised that I cannot publicly discuss the pending appeal regarding my desire to adopt Mercy, I do want to say how much I appreciate the level of support that I have received from the people of Malawi and my friends around the world.”
Madonna was granted adoption od her son David from Malawi back in 2006 and at that time she came under a lot of scrutiny that she used her celebrity status to get around the laws.
This time around though, Madonna was denied the adoption of a 3-year-old girl from the same orphanage for not meeting the residency requirements set forth by the country. Madonna has not lived in the country for 18-24 months.
Madonna has filed an appeal with the courts and is still pursuing the adoption process from home.
