Fifteen Hospital Employees Fired After Snooping Through The Files of Octomom
Fifteen staff members at the hospital where Octomom gave birth were fired after peeking at Nadya Suleman’s medical file.
A Kaiser Permanente spokesperson revealed that 15 of the hospital’s employees were fired for snooping through the files of Nadya Suleman, the mom who gave birth to octuplets earlier this year.
“We always provide training on the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality,” said hospital rep Jim Anderson. “We knew from the time she was admitted to the hospital in December, this case would attract attention. Numerous training sessions were held to remind people of the need to keep the information confidential.”
Eight other hospital employees were also disciplined but not fired for this incident.
Anderson said that he doesn’t believe that any of the information was leaked to the media from these people. He said that “this was human nature and curiosity that got the best of people.”
Suleman currently has six of her eight babies at home with her now. The seventh is due home soon. The last baby will have to stay in the hospital for awhile longer until he is healthy enough to go home with no problems.
