Breastfeeding Is Not Only Healthy For Babies But Also For Moms

A new study shows that moms can lessen their risk of a heart attack, heart disease, and a stroke when they breastfeed their baby.

A new study done by the University of Pittsburgh has shown that women can reduce their risk of a heart attack, heart disease, and a stroke by 10% when they breastfeed for at least a year.

The study also showed that it can reduce the risk of diabetes and high cholesterol by 20%. It also showed that even just breastfeeding for a month could help lessen your risks.

The results of this study are believed to be caused from breastfeeding reducing the amount of fat storage in the body, which in return makes the woman healthy. More studying has to be done for more conclusive reasons.

It has been known for awhile that breastfeeding helps to make babies healthy. It can lessen the possibility of asthma, obesity, and infections in the baby. Also it has been proven that breastfeeding helps women recover from pregnancy faster and lessens the chance that a woman may get ovarian cancer later in life.

Dr Eleanor Bimla Schwarz, who was involved in the study, said, “We have known for years that breastfeeding is important for babies’ health - we now know that it is important for mothers’ health as well. The longer a mother nurses her baby, the better for both of them.”
