17-Year-Olds Soon To Be Allowed ‘Morning-After’ Pill Over The Counter
An anonymous Government health official in Washington has announced plans to allow 17-year-olds to be able to request the ‘morning-after’ pill over the counter without requiring a prescription.
The Food and Drug Administration plan to formerly make the announcement later today. They were made to make the change in policy to comply with a federal judge’s order. The information was provided by an official which had not been authorized to release the details to the public.
Initially, emergency contraception was only to be made available for women who were over 18-years of age. Last month, a federal judge ruled that this should be lowered to 17-years.
Religious conservatives state that the ‘morning-after’ pill is the same as an abortion pill, as it contains a high level of birth control drugs.
