Madonna’s Adoption Attempt Delayed By The Court

The court has delayed the filings for Madonna’s adoption for a Malawian girl until Friday.

Madonna will have to wait a couple more days to find out if she will be taking Mercy home with her. Madonna is in Malawi attempting to adopt a 4 year old girl named Mercy from the same orphanage that she adopted her son David from in 2006.

No other details about the adoption ruling or court hearing were released except for the little girls name: Chifundo James, which translates to Mercy in a local language.

A Malawian welfare official has said that the little girl’s mother was unwed and died soon after giving birth. The father is believed to be alive, but no details are known about him at this time.

Madonna has not yet commented on the adoption.

There are some children advocacy groups claiming that Madonna is using her wealth and name as a power tool to influence the Malawian officials on this adoption. It is against the law in Malawi to allow a person to adopt a child that comes from a broken home and Madonna just recently got divorced from her husband Guy Ritchie.
