Saudi woman gang raped and then punished by legal system
A judge in Saudi Arabia has allegedly ordered that a 23 year old woman should receive 100 lashes and be jailed for a year following a pregnancy after a gang-rape.
The woman was attacked after accepting a lift from a man, then taken to an abode where the driver and four of his friends raped her. This was in east of the city of Jeddah.
The Saudi judge ruled that the victim was guilty of, adultery despite being unmarried and should be imprisoned for a year. The countries legal system practices a strict form of law where women have little rights.
According to the Saudi Gazette, she, “confessed” to “forced intercourse” with the attackers and was brought before a judge at the District Court in Jeddah.
The victim is still pregnant. The flogging sentence will be carried out once she has had the child.
